Second Week In Technical Module
12 April 2010Today was fourth day session with Assoc Prof Dr Khairudin for Innovation module. Today lecture, Prof Dr Khairudin was continued on what we had learned from the previous day about the 5 disciplines of innovation. Today, Prof was continuing expounded to us about discipline 4 which is Innovation Teams. This means we must assess our team members, we must consider the functioning of our current team and ask ourself if the team:

  • · Focuses on an important customer and market need that justifies the work of forming the team?
  • · Has a compelling vision all members buy into?
  • · Has a passionate champion helping to lead the way?
  • · Is multidisciplinary in composition, where each person makes unique contributions?
  • · Uses common methods to generate, evaluate, and implement the best ideas?
  • · Uses collaborative communication to enhance contributions?
  • · Shares recognition and rewards?
  • · Has fun and enjoys working together?

We must trust our teams. To collaborate, teams require trust and trust is built on the Three Trust commandments:

  • · Respect for others
  • · Absolute integrity
  • · Generosity of spirit – forgive people

Then, we continued discipline 5 which is Organizational Alignment. We must deeply understand the Exponential Economy and its impact on our customers and our enterprise. That is mean from lower economy, we do invent something new and it will improve economy in future.

For example, in those days, we used ghetto blaster as our radio and in new world, got a lot of product to give easier in our life such as I-phone, MP3, MP4, internet and so on. We must build a shared vision and strategy for the future. Then, align all elements for the enterprise to deliver the intended future such as connects with market trends and important customer needs in the external business environment. Next, we must mobilize the drivers for success such as:

  • · Leaders who commit to the future and who clarify and stand for continuous value creation
  • · Stakeholders who are engaged in building the new future, communicating it, and connecting with it
  • · Set up performance support for overall coordination, communication, learning, access to resources
  • · Design and test prototypes: look for early wins to celebrate and leverage success

After finished the lecture, we continued with mock presentation of some groups about their product. Only two groups were done this mock presentation because we do not enough time. Tomorrow is the real and final day to present for each group products.

“All organizations are perfectly designed to get results they get”.

(Arthur W.Jones) – Organizational Consultant

First Week For Technical Module...

We are together...Rai, Hawa, Azren, Shida, Rozana...

5 April 2010 – Today was second day session with Prof. Dr. Barjoyai Bardai. Today, we had learned about basic creative method which is:

  • Reverse Engineering - List all of the origin components

  • Provocation - Removing the original/ most important objects

  • Movement - Add new stuff to improved

After that, Prof was showed us video about new invention from India which is Pranav Mistry who person that created ‘The Sixth Sense Technology’. He was removed some components from mouse such as the ball , then he created new ideas just use that ball and add some new components to improved and get more advance technology. His technology is amazing that I never thought before. Other country was more advanced from our own country actually. Their laptop just by their fingers only but have functional similar with computer which is can capture image, do typing or work use the keyboard but their keyboard just visual image and so on. To whom that interested to know more about this new technology, please visit:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzKmGTVmqJs

I never watch this video before. He is brilliant person that have thinking like that. After finished watch the video, Prof. was asked us to discuss among group members to think something that not logic, out of our logic mind and present our product in front of the class. For example, we remove the important components from any object (PROVOCATION METHOD), and then we add new stuff to created new advance object from that (MOVEMENT METHOD). Actually, I not expected about that before. But, I know it since I learned in this module.

My group was choose to create a multipurpose jacket which is has massage (vibrator), rainy protection, and so on. Prof. was giving us some idea to us. First, we must list all the origin components in this jacket (REVERSE ENGINERING METHOD), second to remove the important parts in jacket such as the jacket itself and imaging there are skeleton (PROVOCATION METHOD ) and lastly, we add some new items to created advance objects (MOVEMENT METHOD). So, we add items like vibrator to build massager in that jackets put the waterproof components for rainy protection and so on. This idea was not logic actually but it is possible can happen in few years more. Our world is move forward in new advance technology now that can give more beneficial to human in life. I was so enjoyed for this class.

Other groups were created:

* Restaurant service – eliminate servers

  • * Second wife vacuum – give easier to housewife

  • * Multipurpose spectacles – convenience in any places

  • * Microchips – have 3 types’ chips

  • * Multipurpose brooch magnet – style, 3 in 1 functional, easy just paste

  • * Ezy stove – give easy to cook

6 April 2010 – Today was last day with Prof. Dr. Barjoyai Bardai. We learned about ‘The Innovation Process’.

  • Invention - To conceive the idea.

    Innovation - To use the process by which an invention or idea is translated into the economy.

    What was interesting today because Prof. was brought his bread factory and cloth dryer to class. Actually, I do not know about this technology before. At 9.30 am, we started to bake bread by using this bread factory. We mixed all the ingredients together into the plate which is located inside the bread factory and set up the timer. The bread will bake for 3 hours. While waiting for that bread, Prof. had expounded to us about the innovation process.

    At 1.00 pm, the bread is already to eat. The taste was so delicious, creepy; yummy even this is basic bread. We all were enjoyed to eat this bread while presenting. For the afternoon module, Prof. asked us to discuss among group members about the creative basic method that had learned yesterday and apply to this bread factory and cloth dryer. But, our group was selected to discuss for bread factory. This mean, we must list out all the components that what we see and think how to improve it. After that, all groups must present for their products as usual.

    Besides that, we have doodling activities. Prof. was giving us the drawing paper, colour pencil, and crayon. We asked to draw and colour whatever that we think, we like to that drawing paper. After finished it, Prof. will select some drawings to evaluate and translate meaning of that drawings. It is interesting also because we can know what is our weakness and speciality.

    Doodling activity

    After finished that, we have interesting activities before we go back which is powerful of belief. Prof. was brought 1 set of eggs, all of us must stand on those eggs without broken it. We cannot imagine doing that at first but it is success finally. Person that has lowered confident maybe will cause those eggs broken for 1 or 2 pieces.

    Waiting the bake of bread

    Prof. had showed to us how to us bakery factory

    Before started...prepare the ingredients...

    7 April 2010 – Today was the first day session with Prof Dr Khairudin for Innovation module. We had session with Prof. Dr. Khairudin for five days. He was intelligent, generous person and has many experiences in his life. He loved to share his experiences to us. We had met him before in first week communication module. Prof Dr. Khairudin had taught us how to create blog, how to publish post, and he was give us some tips how to improve my English.

    Presentation for our product

    He was taught us to write in Microsoft Word first. It is because it will correct our grammar mistakes. Then, copy and paste in the blog. From that, we can know what our mistakes are and of course we can improve it. For these five days, he will teach us 5 disciplines of innovation.

    After finished short lecture about 5 disciplines of innovation, Prof. asked us to discuss among group members to create one product that have all characteristics of 5 disciplines just now to give beneficial to human life. He gives us 2 hours to discuss and come out with that product. Our group was decided to promote ‘odour product’ to avoid smelly. It is funny product actually but not so much in markets that sell this product. After that, our representative has to present about our product in front of the class. The other group product’s are:

    * Baby stroller

    * Vending machine

    * Translator machine

    * Dicultivation tyre to produce rubber

    * Alarm clock that can move

    * Service to provide similar as original CD’s

    * Mixed salads

    8 April 2010 – Today was second day session with Prof Dr Khairudin for Innovation module. Lecture for five disciplines of Innovation was continuing today. After that, Prof was give us assignment to think and create new product innovation that is related to biotechnology and this is serious because the last day for this presentation will record by using video camera and will publish into You Tube.

    And also, this topic will still continue until entrepreneurship module for next month. So, my group was decided to come out with organic fertilizers which are Bio-Cides Fertilizers which contain herbicides and pesticides. We come out with this product because very rare people that know about this product and it is important because related with biotechnology of course. This product will decrease costs for farmers because farmers need to buy fertilizer, herbicides and pesticides separately before.

    After 3 hours discussion, I and Aznial as representative of my groups had to present about our product. I as presenter to convince investors to invest for our product, while Aznial as presenter to convince customer to buy our product. Actually, Prof. did not ask many questions that were related to science but he focused more on the business aspect of the product such as how much is the manufacturing cost, production cost, selling price, capital, profit & lose, market size and so on. The comments that Prof. give us:

    * Be more scientific – budget, market size

    * Produce lower cost but mention also the benefits

    * Show and bring the sample to customer

    * Value of our product to whom

    * We must sell the benefits of our product

    9 April 2010 – Today was third day session with Prof Dr Khairudin for Innovation module. Today, we continue on what we had learned from the previous day about the 5 disciplines of innovation. In the morning session, Prof. was give us short lecture on how to present and deliver our product either as investors and customers that can attracted to buy and invest our product.

    For today, we choose Azren as presenter for convince customer, while Rozana as presenter for convince investors as our representative to present our product. They must deliver seriously and improved better than yesterday then can leave lasting impression on the potential investors and our potential customers.

    As usual, Prof. was giving some comments but totally he was so happy because we had improvement day by day. He wants us to do better on next week. Insyallah... we can do it.

    Prof. had give comment for my presentation

* All comments and recommended based on the questionnaire

En Najmi was continued in another session in the afternoon session. He asked us to discuss with our group about statement “TIME IS MONEY”. After that, each group must present about that statement in front of the class. For the conclusion, money is use in our all life which is:

* Business – If are coming late to work, our boss will angry to us and maybe can caused lower reputation like decreasing salary ; lost important potential client ; lost tender ; lost the job. So, the longer we work the money we will gain.

* Education – If we are lazy to study, we will get a bad result, so maybe we will extend the semester. So, we must pay also. We will use more money to study.

* Investment – If we invest money in the bank in longer time, our money will increase day by day.

* Utility – The more utility we used every day either in electricity or water or telephone, the money we spent.

Our group was come out the new formula which is:

TIME = GOLD ------------------------------------

GOLD = MONEY ------------------------------------

① ~ ② TIME = MONEY

After I know all these character, I think, I am a dove person. Hehehe.... J

In the afternoon session, En Najmi was giving us a lot of tips to be good presenter. First of all, he asked us to discuss among group members to identify topic that want to present, identify the ingredients to put in our presentation such as:

* Body (opening and close) → chorological, interesting topic, problem&solution, feature &benefits, goal, objectives.

Then, each of us must rehearse the body that we had discussed in front our group members. After that, En Najmi asked us to discuss again to put add spices on our presentation such as:

  • * Put the visual aids
  • * Proper usage of humour
  • * Interesting stories
  • * Testimonials

Before end of the class, En Najmi was called anybody to present in front of the class but just for body and spices. Then, he will give comments how to improve better. Thanks a lot to him. He was wonderful men that I have met.

1 April 2010 – Today we do not have many activities but just for final presentation. I was so sad because En Najmi was absent to evaluate us today. Pn Suzi, Pn Siti Nor Amira, En Hisham as our judges today. I choose topic about ‘CERAGEM – To better health’. Before that, we had divided into 2 groups which is group 1 will present in Lecture Room 9 and group 2 are still in the same class. I was included in group 1 and I present at 2.20 pm.

Actually, it will take only 7 minutes presentation but mine was skidded to 40 minutes. It is because so many of them were excited in my topic. They were unbeliever the treatment for CERAGEM are free. First of all, Prof was give us thinking practice which is showed some graphic and asked us to identify what it is about. Prof was giving us some words to calculate how much their answer for each percentage. For example:

HARDWORK = 8+1+18+4+23+15+18+11 = 98%

KNOWLEDGE = 96%

LEADERSHIP = 89%

LOVE = 54%

LUCK = 47% *** So, what is words to success actually that can get 100% ???

**** ATTITUDE = 100%

It is our attitude towards us and work that make our life 100% success.
