Second Week In Technical Module
12 April 2010Today was fourth day session with Assoc Prof Dr Khairudin for Innovation module. Today lecture, Prof Dr Khairudin was continued on what we had learned from the previous day about the 5 disciplines of innovation. Today, Prof was continuing expounded to us about discipline 4 which is Innovation Teams. This means we must assess our team members, we must consider the functioning of our current team and ask ourself if the team:

  • · Focuses on an important customer and market need that justifies the work of forming the team?
  • · Has a compelling vision all members buy into?
  • · Has a passionate champion helping to lead the way?
  • · Is multidisciplinary in composition, where each person makes unique contributions?
  • · Uses common methods to generate, evaluate, and implement the best ideas?
  • · Uses collaborative communication to enhance contributions?
  • · Shares recognition and rewards?
  • · Has fun and enjoys working together?

We must trust our teams. To collaborate, teams require trust and trust is built on the Three Trust commandments:

  • · Respect for others
  • · Absolute integrity
  • · Generosity of spirit – forgive people

Then, we continued discipline 5 which is Organizational Alignment. We must deeply understand the Exponential Economy and its impact on our customers and our enterprise. That is mean from lower economy, we do invent something new and it will improve economy in future.

For example, in those days, we used ghetto blaster as our radio and in new world, got a lot of product to give easier in our life such as I-phone, MP3, MP4, internet and so on. We must build a shared vision and strategy for the future. Then, align all elements for the enterprise to deliver the intended future such as connects with market trends and important customer needs in the external business environment. Next, we must mobilize the drivers for success such as:

  • · Leaders who commit to the future and who clarify and stand for continuous value creation
  • · Stakeholders who are engaged in building the new future, communicating it, and connecting with it
  • · Set up performance support for overall coordination, communication, learning, access to resources
  • · Design and test prototypes: look for early wins to celebrate and leverage success

After finished the lecture, we continued with mock presentation of some groups about their product. Only two groups were done this mock presentation because we do not enough time. Tomorrow is the real and final day to present for each group products.

“All organizations are perfectly designed to get results they get”.
